Phillis Diann Booker Johnson was born on February 5, 1950, in Greensboro, NC, to Constance “Connie” Booker and Norman Epps. She was lovingly parented and raised by her grandparents, James Lucius Booker and Eva Mae Booker.
Phillis graduated from Walter Hines Page High School in 1968, and would later marry Wayman Bernard Johnson the same year.
Left to mourn the blessed and inspirational life of Phillis are her sons, Bryan Renard Johnson (Michelle) and Damon Waynard Johnson – both of Atlanta, and John Leonard “Trey” Clapp, III, of Greensboro; brother, Reginald Tyrone Booker (Sandra) of Lancaster, SC; granddaughters, Chloe Yvette and Jayla Lailani of Greensboro; grandsons, Evan Phillip of Atlanta, Trey DaRyan of Charlotte, and Lucious Phirral of Randleman; nephew, Marcus of Oak Ridge, TN; and the entire Booker family. Phillis was also surrounded by the love of the Caldwell and Clapp families – including special relationships with “sons” Mareo Antoine Clapp, Derrick Leonard Clapp, niece Fenecia Fox, nephew Antoine Clapp, and “daughter” Jennifer Lynette Thompson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, nephew Kevin, and her life partner, John Leonard “JC” Clapp, II.
A celebration of her life will be Saturday, April 10, 2021, 12:00 pm, at Sanctuary Deliverance, 3631 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC, with the Reverend Ronald Booker officiating. The family will host visitation from 11:30 am- 12:00 pm prior to the service.
Interment will follow the service at Lakeview Memorial Park.
